How gaming graphics changed the world: Nvidia AI Conference Sydney

The Singularity, the hypothetical moment in time when artificial intelligence becomes capable of recursive self-improvement, could radically change human civilisation almost overnight.

According to the boffins at the NVidia, we may owe the next big leap in human technological advancement to gamers’ desire for better PC graphics. Continue reading How gaming graphics changed the world: Nvidia AI Conference Sydney

Broforce Nintendo Switch review

Devolver Digital’s seminal retro-shooter, Broforce, brings its awesomeness to the Nintendo Switch.

I’m not, generally speaking, a fan of “90s-style retro shooters”. As a forty-something gamer, the feeling of nostalgia when playing a pixelated mess of a game dissipates very quickly. I was there the first time around, and even before- when computer graphics were no more than inverse ASCII characters.

In the 1980s, Frank Miller’s Batman briefly became my favourite comic book character, eventually supplanted by Daredevil, again, due to the words and art of Frank Miller. Still, I’ve always had a soft spot for that friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man Spider-Man. Continue reading Marvel’s Spider-Man PlayStation 4 review

F1 2018 PC review

Codemasters’ F1 2018 is a milestone for the British developer, being the tenth main release of their games based on the prestigious Formula One Championship. Faced with the same challenge as EA Games and their iterative sports games, Codemasters have, by and large, managed to give us something new each year. Continue reading F1 2018 PC review
