Sony’s Xperia 3D Creator app brings 3D scans of your food (or anything else) to Facebook

Most of us, at one point or another have taken a photo of the food in front of us and posted it on Facebook.

Earlier this year Sony Mobile invited me to test out the 3D Creator app for their Xperia mobile phones. 3D Creator enables Sony Mobile Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium owners to scan faces, head, objects and even plates of food and make 3D models that can be rotated, exported into high-end 3D software and printed out using a 3D printer. The Inpatient PlayStation VR review

In 2015 Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn provided players with a tense interactive take on the teen horror genre. A snowy mountaintop, an isolated lodge and an abandoned asylum made for an interesting narrative-driven survival-horror game.

Supermassive returned to the franchise with the weird 2016 PSVR rail-shooter Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. Instead immersing us in the world of Until Dawn, Rush of Blood was only really a shooting gallery featuring environments and characters from the main game.

The Inpatient is a proper VR prequel to Until Dawn. Set in Blackwood Pines Sanatorium, players become patient in the “care” of Dr Bragg, some sixty-years before the events in Until Dawn. Continue reading The Inpatient PlayStation VR review

Marvel’s Black Panther review

If someone had told me, twenty years ago, that Black Panther would be a major motion picture, whilst Daredevil and The Punisher were relegated to TV, I wouldn’t have believed them. In the Marvel comics, T’Challa’s adventures were usually as a supporting act for another character, his native Wakanda and its source of vibranium being of more importance.

But here we are with Black Panther, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s eighteenth movie in the ten years since its inception. Continue reading Marvel’s Black Panther review

The Talos Principle VR HTC Vive review

With The Talos Principle, Serious Sam developers, Croteam, ditched the mindless (but fun) violence of their previous endeavours. Instead we have a philosophical game that ponders about sentient A.I. and features some neat puzzles.

Despite being a few years old now, fans of The Talos Principle have been crying out for a virtual reality version of the game. Having been teased by Croteam and their Serious Sam VR releases, it was only a matter of time until we where given the opportunity to return to The Talos Principle in VR. Switch owners get their hands dirty with Serial Cleaner

Serial Cleaner is a retro-style 2D puzzler that charges players with cleaning up the mess left by hit-men. Previously available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Serial Cleaner is now available on Nintendo’s Switch.

The focus is on stealth as the Cleaner you must infiltrate the often heavily-guarded crime scenes, removing bodies, murder weapons and important items. There’s usually a quantity of bloody that also needs mopping up. Continue reading Switch owners get their hands dirty with Serial Cleaner

Hands-on review: Crucial MX500 2.5” SSD

At CES 2018 memory and storage gurus, Crucial, launched their MX500 SSD range. For the last week, I have been putting one of these hard drives through its paces.

Anyone still booting their PC from a traditional hard disk, really needs to think about the amount of valuable time they sit in front their machine waiting for it to start. Solid state drives have been around for years, but it’s only in the last few that they’ve been reasonably priced, and only very recently that you’ve been able to purchase on with a reasonable amount of storage space.
