The Witcher 3 Xbox One Collector’s Edition gets extra

Xbox One fans picking up the Collector’s Edition of the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can expect a little extra in their version of the premium package.

A physical version of the interestingly entitled in-game card game, Gwent, will be included in the package- which also includes a huge polystone figurine of The Witcher, Geralt, battling a Griffin. Continue reading The Witcher 3 Xbox One Collector’s Edition gets extra

Alien: Isolation PC preview

I’ve been very concerned about Sega’s upcoming Alien: Isolation. VERY concerned. And I imagine that I’ve not been alone.

We’ve been burnt with games based on the Alien franchise before. Last year’s Aliens: Colonial Marines was not a good game. Both publisher Sega, and development studio Gearbox got a good slap from the gaming community for releasing a game that was not quite as advertised. Even Rebellion’s Aliens vs. Predator before it, back in 2010, was a bit of a mess.

It was a brave move for Sega to give the franchise another go so soon. But it was an even braver move for The Creative Assembly, step up to the plate. Famous for their superb historical Total War real-time strategy games, the Brit developer was not the first studio that came to mind when I thought of a developer likely to succeed in creating an Alien game. Week in review- never been a better time to be a gamer!

I’ve got to say, that I’m a little bit bothered.

You see, this is the video game low season. It’s a time when PR firms send out blurb hyping games that we won’t be seeing for a few months. It’s a quiet time where gaming websites grasp every piece of news firmly like it’s a lost scripture or something.

And yet here I am with twelve-plus articles to write. What’s the matter with me. Am I getting lazy? What the fuck’s going on? And more to the point what am I going to do when the real Christmas game avalanche arrives? Continue reading Week in review- never been a better time to be a gamer!

Pure Pool PlayStation 4 review

Pure Pool on the PlayStation 4 is the closest you can get to playing a game of pool in bar without leaving the house.

You’d think that having photo-real pool balls and a table so detailed that you can see the weave of the baize would be enough. Continue reading Pure Pool PlayStation 4 review

Destiny beta scores big!

It was hardly going to be a big surprise, but Activision have announced that the beta of their upcoming Destiny is the biggest beta of this console generation by a “wide margin”.

This announcement is perhaps a bit of a dig at EA’s similar beta for Titanfall, as developed by Respawn Entertainment- an outfit founded by developers that left Activision’s own Infinity Ward studio. Continue reading Destiny beta scores big!

Enemy Front Xbox 360 review

Let me just put my cards on the table, upfront, here. Enemy Front is a pretty unpolished affair. The visuals on the Xbox 360 are a bit lacking in places- ranging from good to grotty. The movement controls take some getting used to- with a floaty skating on ice feel to them. The game’s frame-rate also likes to stutter every now and again. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- developer interview

I was half asleep as I was ushered into my last presentation of E3 2014. It had been one hell of a show and I was heading back home via an eleven-hour flight later that day.

The presentation was for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and as the game demo started I suddenly snapped to attention. Continue reading The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- developer interview
